Rendering
Services
Serving London, Kent & the South Eas
What is Rendering?
Rendering is the process of applying a sand-based mix to the outside walls of a building. It keeps rain off the brickwork or blockwork underneath, it tidies up the appearance of the property, and on older buildings it often replaces a coat that was put on decades ago and has since cracked, bulged or started falling away in patches. If you have walked past a house where the exterior finish looks like it is coming off the wall, that is failed render.
CBL Stone Renovations provides rendering services across London, Kent, East Sussex and the South East. We have been at it for over 30 years. Our rendering work covers Victorian terraces, Georgian cottages, 1930s semis, new-build extensions, and commercial properties. We use lime render on older buildings where breathability matters, sand and cement render where a harder finish is needed, and modern through-coloured systems on newer construction. If you are not sure which type suits your building, we will tell you when we come and look at it.
Our Rendering Process
Assessment & Preparation
We begin with a thorough assessment of the substrate (brick, block, stone, or existing render) and recommend the best render system. Damaged or loose materials are removed, and surfaces are prepped to ensure maximum adhesion.
Material
Selection
Lime Rendering – Ideal for older buildings and listed properties. Breathable, flexible, and sympathetic to traditional construction. Cement Rendering – A more modern solution, offering a strong and weather-resistant finish for newer or previously cement-rendered properties.
Application
Render is applied in multiple coats, allowing appropriate drying time between layers. We ensure an even finish and can apply smooth, textured, or dashed finishes based on your preferences and planning requirements.
Finishing & Aftercare
Once cured, the render can be finished with breathable mineral paint or left natural, depending on the material used. We provide guidance on aftercare and maintenance to ensure long-term durability.
Our Experience in Rendering Period & Heritage Properties
We specialise in rendering for older buildings where breathability and compatibility with traditional materials is essential. Our lime render systems are carefully applied to avoid trapping moisture — a common issue with modern renders on heritage façades.
All render work is completed by skilled craftsmen and in accordance with conservation best practices where applicable.

What Our Clients Say
Excellent team and quality of work, I had an exposed brick wall done in one of our restaurants called Enoteca da Luca St Pauls in the city of London and now it looks like we are in New York, thank you. Looks ace !
Mikael H.
Business Owner, London
We hired CBL to complete a commercial job. They worked out of hours as requested to block up a doorway with concrete blocks and plastered our large client entrance wall. The team were super-efficient and flexible working around our needs specifically working out of our core operating hours and continued to get the job done!
Debbie S.
Business Owner, Kent
Highly recommend these guys. They rebuilt the front wall around our driveway of our Edwardian home, I was very particular about what I wanted and they delivered a fantastic job. Wouldn’t hesitate to pass on their details.
